Project Goals
Alaska Ship Supply operates two general stores and supplies the Alaska fishing fleet. When this client first contacted us, they had an outdated online presence with limited e-commerce capabilities. We recommended a mobile-first WordPress e-commerce website to meet the expectations of commercial fishing clients and residents.
The first steps in building this client’s new e-commerce presence were to help them identify and source suitable imagery, create a content strategy, and assist them in creating actual content, including their product description.
At this stage, we also photographed all of their product offerings and refreshed their existing brand logo to better reflect their vision for their new online presence.
Once this step was completed, we could start designing the new mobile-first online store for Alaska Ship Supply Company. Due to the varied target audience, this task was challenging for our team.
Challenge & Solution
Alaska Ship Supply already had a fairly well-formulated idea of its ideal e-commerce site. Based on that, our team created a mobile-first WordPress and WooCommerce website that provides an excellent user experience across all devices.
Through effective usage of images and colors/textures, the viewer is quickly directed to the appropriate content, thereby providing a better mobile user experience.
The final part of the project for Alaska Ship Supply was to tweak individual design elements to match the client’s expectations. This included adjusting design elements specifically for different mobile devices.

The final step of our WordPress web design project for Alaska Ship Supply was to create their online store, shopping cart, and payment gateway.
Based on the WooCommerce platform, their online store is integrated perfectly with their mobile-first WordPress website. To facilitate future expansion of their product offerings, we created a few sortable categories that make it easy to find specific products.
We added variable product functionality to showcase different product options, including different sizes and color swatches. The shopping cart and payment gateway are mobile-first and provide an enhanced user experience regardless of device type or screen size.
